Swan Songs

For some reason unknown to me, the fence that borders the side of the house where my bedroom is situated is ridiculously low, more of a designator of land boundaries than actually being useful at keeping anything out. As a result, the neighbour’s backyard faces straight into my room. New people have just moved into the house and they seem to be perpectually outside, I cant do anytihng in my room without shutting the curtains, which, quite frankly, i’d prefer not to do. I can’t play guitar without hearing people outside and becoming self conscious, i cant sit and read and look out the window. This is fucked. Yeah, much irritation.

Man, yesterday was like the lamest thing ever, I go online to look at the setlist from what could be the last Ryan Adams show ever, just to discover Jimmy Chamberlain has left the Smashing Pumpkins.
I know they aren’t a band free from turmoil, far from it, but it caught me completely off guard. I just thought the bond between the two of them was unbreakable, Billy always said that firing Jimmy during the Adore era was the most difficult thing he’s ever had to do, and even on the most recent shows he has emphasised the fact they are best friends. Somehow I’m finding it difficult to believe this is just because he wants to spend more time with his family though.

Maybe it’s just the lack of information that’s irritating me. In the end, it comes down to whether Billy can make another good album, because Zeitgeist was always what it needed to be, a mission statement declaring the band was back and that they were going to make something incredible next up. Well, now it’s time to put the cards on the table, til then, I’ll wait on making a judgement.

Its way hot today, I dont feel like doing anything. I have 3 articles to write up tonight though, including a one on engendered subjectivity in music that im still not quite sure where im going with. Hopefully it works itself out as it goes along.

Also I got the new Antony & the Johnsons record yesterday, best thing I’ve heard this year Id say.
